Sydney Fence Group installs frameless and semi-frameless glass pool fencing across Penrith and Western Sydney. We use toughened safety glass on core-drilled or base-plated spigots, built to the NSW pool barrier requirements under AS 1926.1 — minimum 1.2 metre height, compliant self-closing gate and a 900mm non-climbable zone. A POOL FENCE THAT PASSES, WITHOUT WALLING OFF YOUR BACKYARD

A pool barrier is one of the few fences in Australia with the law written into it. In NSW it has to be at least 1.2 metres high, there can be no gap under it wider than 100 millimetres, no gap between vertical members wider than 100 millimetres, and there has to be a 900 millimetre non-climbable zone kept clear on the outside. The gate has to be self-closing, self-latching, swing away from the pool, and have the latch at least 1.5 metres up.

Glass gets you all of that without turning the backyard into two separate spaces. You keep the sightline to the pool, which matters for supervision as much as it does for looks, and toughened glass on properly set spigots needs almost nothing from you but a wash.

WHO CALLS US FOR THIS

  • New pool builds needing a barrier before the pool can be filled and used
  • Owners replacing an old aluminium or timber pool fence
  • Anyone who's had a compliance inspection fail
  • Sellers and landlords who need a certificate of compliance
  • People who want the pool visible from the house
  • Renovations where the pool area is being reworked
BUILD METHODOLOGY

HOW WE BUILD IT

01

MEASURE AND CHECK COMPLIANCE

We measure the run and check the whole barrier line against the NSW rules — including the non-climbable zone, which is where most existing fences fail.

02

SET THE SPIGOTS

Spigots core-drilled into concrete or base-plated and fixed, set dead level. This is the step that decides whether the panels line up.

03

INSTALL THE GLASS

Toughened panels set, packed and levelled, with the gaps set to the compliant spacing.

04

HANG AND SET THE GATE

Self-closing hinges and a self-latching latch fitted and adjusted so the gate closes and latches from any open position, every time.

05

TEST AND CLEAN

Gate cycled and tested, glass cleaned, site cleared.

HOW PRICING WORKS

WHAT DOES IT COST?

Fencing is priced by the metre, but the metre rate on your job depends on things we can only see standing on the block.

1

Frameless versus semi-frameless — frameless uses thicker glass and more hardware

2

Whether the spigots core-drill into existing concrete or need a new footing

3

The number of gates and corners in the run

4

Access for getting glass panels into the pool area

That's why we measure on site rather than quoting over the phone. The measure is free, the quote is written, and the number on it doesn't move.

WHY CHOOSE SYDNEY FENCE GROUP

WHY US FOR GLASS POOL FENCING

1

WE CHECK THE WHOLE BARRIER, NOT JUST THE NEW BIT

Most failed inspections aren't about the fence. They're the boundary fence forming part of the barrier, a climbable object inside the non-climbable zone, or a gate that doesn't latch. We look at all of it when we measure.

2

LEVEL SPIGOTS OR NOTHING LINES UP

Glass shows every millimetre of error. Setting the spigots is slow, careful work and we don't rush it.

3

WE BUILD THE REST OF THE BOUNDARY TOO

If your boundary fence has to form part of the pool barrier, we can bring that up to standard in the same job instead of sending you to someone else.
